Trailer
A message from the director:
Last March, a small group of SCAD undergraduates registered for a class called "Group Project in 3D." The aim of the class was simple-- Take a CG short conceptual stages to final edit in ten weeks. Armed with a simple story idea and little-to-no filmmaking experience, we set out to create Pretty Dead, our only frame of reference for what was possible being equivalent graduate-level classes which limited scope to a single character and 60 second run-time.
Naturally, our film had 4 main characters and flirted with 3 minutes in duration.
After what was undoubtedly the most grueling ten weeks of my life, I am pleased to say that we have completed a draft of the film, thanks in no small part to the outstanding talent (and tireless effort) of our crew.
At the end of the quarter, we had the opportunity to screen the film in SCAD's graduation animation showcase and receive audience feedback. Over the next few months, we will continue to work on the film, tying up loose ends and polishing it for a winter festival run. This blog will document our progress, up to this point and beyond, as well as providing online followers with means to easily give feedback on our work.
I hope you enjoy the trailer, and I look forward to hearing from you,
-Scott Kennell

Meet the Crew
Scott Kennell, Director/Animation Lead
Scott is a senior animation student at SCAD. Pretty Dead is his directorial debut. When he is not bowling or enjoying what little time he is able to spend outside, he can be found playing some mellow tunes on his acoustic guitar or ukulele...
Elizabeth Hood, Producer/Animation
Elizabeth is a junior animation student at SCAD, specializing in 3D production management and expecting to graduate in Spring 2012. She has acted as a production consultant on several upcoming student films, but Pretty Dead is the first project for which she is the sole producer. Elizabeth specializes in schedule-drafting and team-wrangling, and has been identified as a humorless goddess of time management.
Ryan Gatts, Art Direction/Texturing/Animation
(bio forthcoming!)
Kate Kirby-O'Connell, Art Direction/Rigging/Texturing
Charlotte "Kate" Kirby-O'Connell is a sophomore animation student at SCAD, graduating in Spring 2013. Pretty Dead was her first collaborative 3D film. She wants everybody to know that she did most of her work in high heels, and she loves her chihuahua Chewie very much.
